The Ontario Superior Court denied the request for a stay and interpretation on seed treatment regulations submitted by the Grain Farmers of Ontario (GFO) this afternoon.
“We are extremely disappointed that the judge did not rule in our favour, leaving the grain industry in a very difficult situation as farmers try to arrange seed orders this fall,” Mark Brock, chair of GFO, said in a release. “We are currently reviewing our legal options and will continue to protect the rights of Ontario’s grain farmers.”

Seed Treatment regulations passed into law July 1. The court date for the GFO’s application was September 28.
The Grain Farmers of Ontario has made clear it “has not conceded,” and will continue to evaluate options.
