Farm & Food Care Ontario has announced the hiring of a new executive director.
Tracy Hussey is taking on the role as of January 4th, replacing Crystal Mackay who transitioned to the new CEO position for Farm & Food Care Canada with the start of the new year.
A registered dietitian by training, Hussey has a background in food and health-related positions. She has worked in the food industry, in a hospital environment and in family medicine.
“Throughout my career, I’ve had the pleasure of listening to and deciphering many urban voices. In the past, I’ve so often heard consumers cite confusing media messages about food as being truth,” said Hussey in a release on Monday. “I’m passionate about increasing Farm & Food Care’s opportunities to have conversations with non-farming Ontarians while helping them to understand our complex food systems.”
“Her strong background in nutrition and dietetics will be a great asset to the organization as we work to continue to connect farm gates to our dinner plates,” noted John Maaskant, chair of Farm & Food Care Ontario.
Hussey will also represent Ontario on Farm & Food Care’s national senior management team with representatives from Farm & Food Care Canada and Farm & Food Care Saskatchewan.
