Techtour: Calibration Downtime a Thing of the Past with Väderstad's New SeedEye

by

Weighing and calibrating seed between fields is a good excuse to get outside, but it sure can feel tedious when there are acres to be sowed. And, with robots weeding row crops, and driverless tractors hitting hayfields, it’s hard to believe we’re still doing it.

Enter Väderstad’s brand new SeedEye seed counter system. The system allows operators to set their targeted seeds per square meter from the tractor seat.

“Counting seeds is more exact than by calculating quantities based on seed weight,” said Crister Stark, chairman of the board at Väderstad. “The system has been developed as a direct response to farmers’ needs to predict total plants per square metre.”

According to the company press release, the system counts rapeseed with approximately 99% accuracy, and wheat and other grains with 98-99% accuracy.

In this episode of the TechTour, our very own Shaun Haney catches up with Väderstad’s Johannes Schlosser and Crister Stark, at Agritechnica, to talk about the efficiency advantage SeedEye offers and how it works. Plus, we get a nifty demonstration of what it might look like to adjust the system from the tractor seat.
