‘Lasagna’ Makes World Dairy Expo Trip a Winner

by

Ontario 4-H members are always winners when they travel to the World Dairy Expo. There’s a lot to learn and experience at the annual dairy show and for 20-year-old Woodstock, Ontario, dairy farmer Josh Karn, it’s always more fun and rewarding when ‘Lasagna’ is along for the ride.

At this year’s World Dairy Expo, Karn teamed up with his Ontario teammates – Brett Stockdale, Collin Allardyce and Laura DeKlein – to finish 5th in the Expo’s National 4-H Dairy Cattle Judging Contest.

He then teamed up with his prized red and white Holstein Chakelburg Picolo Lasagna EX92 to capture 8th place in the Red and White four-year-old cow class.

In this video, Real Agriculture’s Bernard Tobin catches up with Karn to talk about his trip: what it’s like for he and Lasagna to compete against the best cows in the world; and why every young dairy farmer should aspire to make the trip to the World Dairy Expo.
