The Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) welcomes new faces to its board of directors and regional representatives following a call for nominations in Regions 1 and 5 and three regional representatives.
Joining the AWC board of directors in Region 1 is Jason Saunders, from Taber. Gary Stanford, from Magrath, will return to the AWC Board. In Region 5, AWC welcomes Cole Siegle from Clyde and Warren Sekulic from Rycroft as a re-elected director.
In addition, Otto Rottier and David Bartlett will return as regional reps in Region 5, and AWC welcomes Jacob Kodde and Arthur Eckert as new reps in Region 1. Both Regions 1 and 5 have an open rep position and nominations will be accepted at the upcoming regional meetings on November 15th in Westlock and November 17th in Fairview for Region 5, and in Medicine Hat on November 22 for Region 1, says AWC.
“It is great to see some new faces on our Board and some new regional reps as well,” says Kevin Auch, AWC Chair. “It is always good to have a fresh perspective at the table and it is encouraging that farmers want to join our organization and represent the growers in their areas.”
At this year’s AGM, AWC will be saying goodbye to two Directors who were an important part of the founding Board of Directors when AWC was established in 2012.
“This year we will be saying goodbye to Henry Vos in Region 5 and Lynn Jacobson in Region 1, both were founding Board members and provided a lot of leadership in getting AWC started,” says Auch. “Henry and Lynn provided an important perspective to our strategic direction and we are very thankful for the time they served on our Board.”
The newly elected directors take position following the annual general meeting on February 1, 2017, held in conjunction with FarmTech. All Directors and Reps serve three year terms.
