Beef Market Update: Market Neutral Reports, a Weaker Dollar, & Looking at Summer '17 Prices

It’s Agribition week in Regina, and Shaun Haney is there to take in all there is to see (and smell!). He managed to eek out enough time to catch up with Anne Wasko, of Gateway Livestock Exchange, for another edition of the Beef Market Update.

Wasko starts with the recent USDA cattle on feed report that ended up pretty neutral which, you know, is maybe not the worst thing ever, given the run of bearish news the cattle industry was facing.

From there, Haney and Wasko talk upward movement in live trade prices north and south of the border, where we’re at with year-end feed placements, and why there’s some optimism for prices at the auction mart, too. A weaker dollar, moving off seasonal lows, and positive numbers in the futures market are all aligning, says Wasko. Listen more, below:
