RealAg Radio, Nov 3: Grain Transport Legislation, Durum Quality & CRISPR Crops

by

Federal transport minister Marc Garneau has unveiled the Liberals’ long-term strategy for transportation in Canada, including the promise to introduce new legislation relevant for grain transportation in early 2017.

Co-hosts Shaun Haney and Kelvin Heppner discuss the government’s promise to address concerns about grain transportation, Dairy Farmers of Canada’s new logo, and much more on today’s show.

Dwight Nichol of DLN AgVentures joins to chat about the major concerns about durum quality as harvest grinds along in the West.

And we replay Kelvin’s conversation with Kevin Folta of the University of Florida on the enormous potential for gene editing — CRISPR, for example — in developing improved crop genetics.

Tune in each weekday to SiriusXM’s Rural Radio Channel 147 at 4 p.m. (eastern) to hear the day’s show!
