Who Should Canadian Farmers Be Cheering For In The U.S. Election?

by

Tuesday is the big day…finally…

The entire world is going to take a giant breath of relief that the U.S. election is coming to a close. The storyline is well documented, circus-like in nature — a real life made-for-TV event like no other in our popular culture and political history.

For Canadians involved in agriculture, many of you are probably considering the winner’s impact on your own operation in an indirect way. The American Farm Bureau describes some of the agricultural issues that will be affected by the results of this election. In Canada, the decisions on the EPA don’t really impact Canadians but indirectly even the EPA’s future could give Prime Minister Trudeau some ideas on our own domestic policies on the environment.

Other issues where Canadian agriculture will be impacted are in the areas of trade (NAFTA, TPP, etc), immigration, and agriculture subsidies. Whether you like it or not this election impacts your farm in Canada. For some of these issues, Trump and Clinton are on the polar opposite end of each other.

Please vote in our poll and contribute by answering our question: Who Should Canadian Agriculture be cheering for in the U.S. Election? Please vote with your farming and ranching hat and don’t consider other issues.
