Beef Market Update — Cattle On Feed, Regional Differences, and What Annie Wants for Christmas

This week’s Beef Market Update isn’t just special because it’s festive, it’s also a rare ladies-only affair as Lyndsey Smith steps in for Shaun Haney this week as host.

As always, Anne Wasko, of Gateway Livestock, fills us in on what’s top of mind for the cattle industry markets this week. From the Canadian cattle on feed report from last week, and looking forward to the U.S. version of the same this Friday, Wasko discusses what surprised (or, rather, didn’t) in the report. What’s behind slow placements, plus good news in the fat cattle market also gets covered.

From there, Wasko and Smith also discuss regional markets, including why Ontario calf and fat cattle market prices have different timelines and spreads. Also, you’ll hear what Anne really wants for Christmas (hint: it’s not more cattle).
