Canola School: Holiday Conversations about Food and Farming

by

Food and conversations are two fundamental parts of holiday plans for many people, as we head out to Christmas dinners and New Year parties with family and friends.

If you’re a farmer, chances are someone will ask “how was harvest?” or “how’d the weather impact your farm this year?” or the popular “how much is a combine these days?,” notes Ellen Pruden, education and promotion manager with the Manitoba Canola Growers Association, in this holiday-themed Canola School episode.

As part of the team behind the “Canola Eat Well” awareness initiative that’s funded by growers in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, Pruden encourages farmers to engage in these conversations about food and farming.

“Celebrate that they’re asking questions and that they’re interested,” she says.

She even has an appropriate acronym to help and a hands-on party trick to demonstrate how farmers are responsibly and sustainably producing food. CHEERS!
