Opinion
As Donald Trump draws closer in his seemingly never-ending search to find his Agriculture Secretary, many people ask themselves what qualities is he looking for. We all have our own opinion of what he is looking for, but no one really knows. What we all do know is what qualities and characteristics appeal to us personally as individuals.
In September, 2015, we ran a poll asking the RealAg community, “What Makes a Great Provincial Ag Minister?” and, to be honest, I don’t really agree with the prevailing thought.
Whether you are in Canada or the United States the agriculture minister or secretary needs many of the same qualities nationally, state-wide, or provincially. Last week on RealAg Radio I delved into this subject and expressed what I believe to be some of the most important qualities and characteristics of an agriculture minister or secretary. I pull out some examples on both sides of the border, but please let us know whether you agree or disagree with my side of the story.
