It’s Friday! And that means it’s time for a RealAg Roundtable on today’s show.
After Shaun and Kelvin cover the day’s news, which includes the Canadian government’s plan to attend a post-TPP trade summit with most of the other TPP countries and China, southwest Ontario market consultant and economist Matthew Pot joins the show to discuss yesterday’s USDA numbers and what’s happening in the Ontario corn and soybean market.
From there, it’s roundtable time, as Lyndsey joins Shaun and Kelvin to discuss a few issues:
- the role of general farm organizations — how much value do they provide? Why do they have such a hard time engaging farmers?
- the U.S. dairy industry has ramped up pressure on its government to open up the Canadian dairy market — why has Dairy Farmers of Canada been seemingly quiet publicly?
- and, who wouldn’t want to go to Winnipeg in February?
Just a heads-up, next week we’ll be on the road, between CropConnect in Winnipeg, Canada’s Ag Day in Ottawa, the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, and even a Bayer tour in Germany.
Listen to RealAg Radio every weekday afternoon at 2pm MST on Rural Radio Channel 147!
