World's Largest Model Farm Expands with 100,000 Toothpicks

What would you do with 100,000 toothpicks?

The answer is obvious for Tennessee farmers Chase Long and Colby Counce, builders of the world’s largest model farm. They gathered together some friends and worked for a week to turn the toothpicks into harvested cornfields on their 15,000-acre replica.

Real Agriculture first featured the model farm when it appeared at the 2016 National Farm Machinery Show (NFMS) in Louisville, Kentucky. The feature quickly became the most watched video in Real Agriculture history as farmers around the world tuned in to get a glimpse of farm.

We caught up with Long and Counces at the 2017 NFMS to see what they’ve been up to. The entrepreneurial young farmers have been pursuing expansion aggressively. Over the past year they’ve grown the farm by 20%, including the toothpick-laden harvested cornfields, a corn test plot sponsored by AgriGold, hayfields, and a woodlands and creek expansion:
