After almost 10 years as Premier of Saskatchewan, in a surprise to many, Brad Wall announced his upcoming retirement from politics on Thursday.
“I’ve always thought that the 10 year mark – should I be so fortunate to serve that long – might be the right time to reevaluate,” said Wall in a video announcement.
“Together with Tami, I have decided that now is the time for renewal – for my party, for the government, for the province. It’s time for me to retire from politics,” he continued.
The SaskParty won three consecutive elections with the majority of the popular vote with Wall at the helm. Immensely popular in the agriculture community, opinion polls have regularly ranked him as the most popular premier in the country. His accomplishments in growing the Saskatchewan economy have been widely celebrated in conservative circles.
It has been..and will always be the honour of my working life to serve as Premier of this Province that I love. https://t.co/COG6fGNWc4
