Farm Credit Canada (FCC) has announced that it will be offering support to customers in parts of eastern Ontario and western Quebec.
The regions were affected by excessive rainfall this growing season, which meant many producers were unable to seed on time or at all. Others were forced to replant. And a number who did get seed in the ground are seeing reduced yields.
“Excessive rainfall has certainly impacted the growing season in parts of Eastern Canada and, in some cases, caused financial challenges for farm operations, as well as personal hardship and stress,” says Michael Hoffort, FCC president and CEO. “We want our customers to know we stand by them and will show flexibility to help them through challenging times.”
FCC is offering to work with consumers to help reduce the financial burden caused by these conditions, through the consideration of deferral of principal payments and/or other payment schedule amendments. The company says it will remain flexible, and that it’s main goal is to help ensure producers have sufficient cash flow going into the next production cycle.
“Although FCC customer support is being offered in specific locations,” reads the company’s press release, “Canada’s leading agriculture lender offers flexibility to all customers through challenging business cycles and unpredictable circumstances on a case-by-case basis.
Customers with land in the affected growing regions are being asked to contact their FCC relationship manager, or the company’s Customer Service Centre.
