The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association is starting the process of finding a new executive director.
Robin Speer has moved on to become the manager of public affairs for CN Rail.
Speer joined the Wheat Growers in fall 2015, replacing long-time executive director Blair Rutter.
Priorities for the member-funded organization during Speer’s tenure included speaking against carbon taxes and the federal government’s proposed tax changes, as well as pushing for improved grain transportation and a reduction in the Canadian Grain Commission’s user fee surplus.
Speer previously served as manager of government and commercial relations with Viterra, as well as vice president of public affairs for the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association. Originally from North Battleford, he has also worked on Parliament Hill and in the Saskatchewan Legislature.
