Who we are

At Bio-Cycle Solutions, we know agriculture must be sustainable, so we are driving sustainability through innovative fertility products.

We believe innovation must lead the way in becoming a fully sustainable industry, so we are creating fertility solutions for long-term productivity and profitability. For over a decade, our method of managing compostable waste has reduced food waste and returned it to farmland as nutrient rich fertilizer. We are committed to a cycle of using what we have to make more of what we need.

We research and develop new products that support our sustainable model, through transparent processes and engagement with retailers, partners, and producers. Bio-Cycle Solutions is creating the next generation of crop fertility products for farmers to deliver more food to the world.

We are driving the agriculture industry to be better prepared for the future.

Our goal

A viable model of agriculture ensures input creation has no negative affect on outputs. Simply put, we can’t take more than what we put in. This is the foundation of our sustainable model.

In Canada, 40% of food losses occur at the retail level before the food ever sees a grocery cart. The Bio-Cycle production model reduces compostable food waste — upwards of 32 tonnes per day — to create a sulphur-amended compost blend. Compost has long been used to improve and amend soil to create a rich environment for plants to thrive, and with our strict processing requirements, our compost ensures a healthy mix of microbes end up in the soil. When mixed with elemental sulphur, this blend puts food back into the food chain.

Sustainability — creating a productive and viable agricultural future — is the core of our business.

How we do it

Worldwide, 1.3 billion tonnes of compostable food gets thrown away each year. This nutrient rich waste is our primary input to create the compost mix for our fertility products.

We collect up to 32 tonnes of food waste per day from grocery stores, restaurants, and malls. This waste material is transported to our various transfer stations, processed into nutrient rich compost, and combined with macronutrients such as sulphur. This blend is safer to handle than traditional sulphur based soil amendments, and much more cost-efficient. Our sulphur-amended compost blend is then applied on agricultural farmland to enrich soils for optimum crop performance.

Most importantly, we bring food waste full-circle, closing the sustainability loop.
