Claas debuts lineup of articulating ag loader tractors

by

Claas, in cooperation with construction machine manufacturer Liebherr, has unveiled what it’s calling the “first wheeled loader series for all agricultural applications”.

The Torion series, which debuted at Agritechnica in Germany, includes seven articulating loaders, and, according to Claas, rounds out their range of telehandlers, transport wagons and tractors with front loaders.

With infinitely variable hydrostatic drive, the smallest of the Torion lineup — the 639 and 535 models — provide up to 68 horsepower and drive in two modes: F1, which works at 0 to 6 km/h; and F2, which works from 0 to 20km/h. These, according to Claas are good models for livestock holdings and special crops.

The 1511, 1410 and 1177 models, which fit in the mid-range bracket of the series, provide up to 167 horsepower, and are equipped with the Varipower transmission for three drive modes (0 to 6, 0 to 16 and 0 to 40km/h). Their engines are the same as the Arion 500 series tractors, and Claas lists these tractors as a good fit for silo compaction and grain, fertilizer, and other bulk material handling. They are available with P- or Z- kinematics.

The largest of the lineup are the 1812 and 1914 models, with 195 and 228 horsepower, respectively. These loaders are equipped with infinitely adjustable, power-split CMATIC transmissions, and are also available as either agricultural or Z- kinematics.

Smart Loading capabilities are an option for the 1511 and 1177; and standard on the 1812 and 1914. This technology enables operators to program a bucket return function, and define the lifting and lowering limits of the loader.

RealAgriculture’s Kelvin Heppner caught up with Holger Jurgens of Claas, to hear about the new loader line-up at Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany.
