Fit Farmer, Ep 4: Working mental fitness into your routine

by

When someone says “take care of your mental health,” do you envision meditation sessions in quiet rooms or the latest yoga trend? While both meditation and yoga can be part of taking care of your headspace, they’re not the only way to do so. The most important thing is that you work to add mental health fitness into your self-care routine, whatever that looks like.

Our physical well-being is critical, of course, but our mental health is a major factor in over-all wellness. What’s more, working on our fitness can help our mental headspace and vice versa. The two have to be considered together, says Fit Farmer co-host Gary Chambers.

To discuss what you can do to give yourself a mental health boost, co-host Shaun Haney and Chambers are joined by Kim Keller, co-founder of Do More Ag Foundation, in this edition of the Fit Farmer podcast.

From checking in on your people, either in person or by text, taking a two minute stretch break everytime you fill the seeder, to being intentional and honest with the people around you, Keller, Chambers, and Haney have great tips for working a mental health check-up into your farming routine.
