Federal Agriculture Minister Lawrence MacAulay is headed out on the second leg of his “Growing Canadian Agriculture” tour, starting in B.C. on Friday.
The minister says the tour is an opportunity for him to see and hear firsthand the innovative work being done within the agricultural sector in Canada.
“I’m looking forward to head out once again to listen to our hardworking farmers, processors and industry leaders on how we can continue growing the sector together. Our Government is committed to making smart investments that will expand market growth, strengthen the middle class and create well-paying middle class jobs,” MacAulay says.
Back in June, he started his trip in La Prairie, Quebec then wrapped it up in Abbotsford, B.C. on July 17, with stops along the way in Alberta, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan.
His end-of-summer tour starts in the Okanagan region of B.C. and will end in September in Southwestern Ontario with stops in Quebec, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
It’s expected MacAulay will make additional announcements along the route, as the national tour follows the start of the new Canadian Agricultural Partnership — the five-year ag policy framework that replaced Growing Forward 2 in April.
MPs are scheduled to be back in Ottawa for the fall session the week of September 17th.
