RealAg Radio, August 27: A trade "understanding," money for German farmers, and Russian crop conditions

by

It’s a big day for trade — at least for the U.S. and Mexico as U.S. President Donald Trump announced he will be “eliminating” NAFTA and going forward with the “U.S. and Mexico trade agreement.”

In today’s RealAg Radio show, host Shaun Haney, along with Jessika Guse, breaks down what you need to know about Canada’s involvement with the new deal. Other topics in news include:

  • The USDA reveals its payment rates for their aid package
  • German farmers get an aid package for their drought conditions — just not in the amount they wanted
  • Brazil’s Agriculture minister jumps the gun on Twitter about the glyphosate appeal
  • Economists in the UK believe the price of food will go up by five per cent

Then, Ellen Sparry with C&M Seeds joins Wheat Pete Johnson to talk about the future of wheat in regards to research funding. Shaun is then joined by Mike Lee (@AgronomyUkraine) from Ukraine on what’s happening there and in Russia. Questions about wheat yields, trade across the Black Sea region, the structure of agriculture, and more are answered by Lee.
