RealAg Radio, Oct. 4: MB joins carbon fight, policy analyst on dairy, and Christmas or Thanksgiving?

It’s almost the Thanksgiving long weekend in Canada which means most of the RealAgriculture staff are preparing for copious amounts of turkey and pumpkin pie.

Speaking of, RealAg Radio host Shaun Haney, reveals to news lead, Jessika Guse he believes Thanksgiving is the best holiday. Guse strongly disagrees and says Christmas trump’s Thanksgiving by far. You can vote which holiday is the best within the tweet below.

In the news with Guse, stories include Manitoba joining the fight against the federal carbon tax, lots of top positions being filled within various companies, Prime Minister Trudeau says he’ll take time to speak to dairy producers and the Dairy Farmers of Ontario president doesn’t mince words to a rebuttal, and a very tiny silver lining to the snow fall.

Shaun also speaks to Mark Stephenson, director of dairy policy analysis at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He discusses the USMCA agreement from a dairy perspective.  Is it a win for American farmers? Will it be the end of supply management?

For today’s product spotlight, Ryan Mccann from Nutrien Ag Solutions joins the show.

Then, Shaun has an informative conversation with Jeff Nonay who’s an Alberta dairy farmer on what he thinks about the results of the USMCA and what it means for his dairy farm.
