If you’ve upgraded any farm buildings to improve energy efficiency in the last two years, or have plans to in the next two years, and farm in Alberta — the Farm Energy and Agri-Processing Program may be for you.

As Vern Steinborn, of SouthGrow, shares in the video below, the Government of Alberta has rolled out this funding program offering 50 per cent cost-share on certain improvements on-farm that improves energy efficiency. The funding can be for both new and retro fit construction, and producers may be eligible for cost-share retroactively from work undertaken as far back as April 1, 2016.

Steinborn says there are several eligible costs, from installing new high-efficiency lighting, to improved combined heat and power units for poultry and swine barns, and even cattle waterers, for example.
