It’s not often that we here at RealAgriculture have a chance to spend some quality time one-on-one with mainstream media pundits. But at the Western Canadian Crop Production Show this week, news lead Jessika Guse managed to wrangle radio host John Gormley to sit down with RealAg Radio host Shaun Haney to talk provincial politics, the federal/provincial scuffle in the making, and navigating rough international waters, politically.
From Saskatchewan premier Scott Moe’s western success and popularity, to premiers focusing on federal opponents vs. their provincial counterparts, Haney and Gormley summarize what’s shaping up to be a very interesting, and carbon-centric, federal election season. Gormley shares insights on Conservative leader Andrew Scheer, and where the NDP’s Jagmeet Singh has fallen so very short of expectations for the party.
Haney and the Saskatchewan radio host leave no uncomfortable topic unturned, as they focus their attention on China and Saudi Arabia and Canada’s handling of international hot-potatoes — and, as Gormley points out, Canada’s stance on issues has been decidedly morally correct, but has still managed to wedge itself into some very uncomfortable political positions.
