RealAg Radio, Feb. 11: Dr. Zaruk on activists, reminiscing on a canola breeding career, and ROI of weed management

by

It’s time for another episode of agronomic Monday on RealAg Radio. Currently cold winds and snow are covering a vast majority of the country; however, we can still talk about the growing season to warm us up a little!

Today’s show features:

  • Dr. David Zaruk on agriculture’s battle with activists to remain viable in 2019.  David shares his insights on how we got to this point but more importantly what should the industry be doing next to have more success.
  •  Charlie O’Donnell from Trimble Agriculture on their carbon credit program where farmers can get money back fro their environmentally sustainable practices.
  • Dr. Dale Burns is a canola breeder with Dekalb and has seen many changes in his career. He reflects on his achievements and what is next for the canola breeding industry.
  • Dr. Peter Sikkema with OMAFRA on the high returns of weed management.  There are places to cut costs but weed management is not one of them.
