From the barn to the boardroom, agriculture is full of job opportunities and employers are looking for talent. But it’s not that easy to find qualified people to do the job.
That’s Melissa Brinn’s take on the challenges agriculture employers face and the incredible opportunities job seekers have throughout the industry.
“Every company, everywhere is looking for employees,” says Brinn, a custom talent solutions specialist with AgCareers.com. At the Canadian Dairy XPO at Stratford, Ont., earlier this month, 74 companies signed up to take part in a ‘resume blitz’ organized by AgCareers.com.
The objective of the blitz is to connect talent-hungry employers with job seekers and make matches. “A lot of companies are talking about how hard it is to find employees right now,” says Brinn who helps recruit a wide range of talent, from on-farm labour to CEOs.
In this interview with RealAgriculture’s Bernard Tobin, Brinn discusses the range of jobs available in the dairy industry and across other ag sectors. “Here at the dairy show the employers who signed up for the blitz are looking for everything from labour to marketing representatives to sales reps and operations management,” notes Brinn.
