Grain Farmers of Ontario has hired Marty Vermey for the role of senior agronomist, the commodity group announced.

Vermey joins Grain Farmers of Ontario with experience in agronomy, research, product development, marketing and management roles with seed and crop protection businesses. He also has hands-on experience as a farmer and knowledge of production agriculture and farming challenges, GFO says.

GFO represents Ontario‘s 28,000 barley, corn, oat, soybean, and wheat farmers.

“We are pleased that Marty is joining us in this new role,” says Crosby Devitt, vice president 0f Grain Farmers of Ontario. “Marty will work to ensure Ontario farmers have production tools and resources available to continue to be global leaders in grain production. Our farmer-members look to us to provide high-level production information and to ensure that grain farmers voices are heard within the industry and with government.”
