Setterington’s Fertilizer Service Ltd, part of the Agromart Group, has announced it has achieved 4R certification in Ontario through the 4R Nutrient Stewardship Certification Program.
The Cottam branch of Setterington’s is the third agriculture nutrient service provider to achieve certification in the province.
Setterington’s is in the Western Lake Erie Basin.
“We encourage growers who are now starting spring seeding to ask their agri-retailer about incorporating 4R Nutrient Stewardship into their nutrient management plans,” says Garth Whyte, President & CEO of Fertilizer Canada.
Through the voluntary 4R program, agri-retailers are fitted with the tools to provide grower customers with advice based on the high standards of 4R Nutrient Stewardship and the program’s scientifically proven best management practices (BMPs).
Over 20 ag retail sites have currently completed a 4R Certification pre-audit specifications and are moving towards full certification, according to Fertilizer Canada. Earlier this year Thompsons Limited and AGRIS Co-operative Ltd, also received their full 4R Certification.
The 4R Certification Program is funded and guided under a 4R Ontario Steering Committee and administered by Fertilizer Canada. Acreage managed by agri-retailers who are 4R Certified add to the total farmland in Fertilizer Canada’s goal of verified acres under 4R Nutrient Stewardship.
