As farmers head out to spray, it appears as though many aren’t thinking about buying new anytime soon. Machinery sales in Canada continue to drop month after month.
According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers’ (AEM) monthly report, combine sales were down 46.8 per cent compared to June of last year. When it comes to tractors, a total of 11,704 have been sold, a decrease of seven per cent from 2018, when, by the same time, 12,591 were sold.
Sales for two-wheel drive tractors with under 40 horsepower, were down 11.2 per cent, while tractors with 40 to 100 horsepower were down 21.7 per cent, and those with more than 100 horsepower were down 18.8 per cent from last year. Four-wheel-drive tractors, meanwhile, slid 50 per cent compared to June 2018.
In the United States, tractor sales were down only slightly, with a four per cent decrease from this time last year.
