AGCO has launched a new Sunflower-brand air drill with two opener options, on-board tanks, sectional control, and a narrow transport width.
The 9831NT air drill is designed for flexibility in the field and easy transport on the roads, says Larry Kuster, AGCO seeding and tillage product marketing specialist. The 30-foot unit folds to just over 11 feet for transport, with two on-board tanks for a total of 175 bushel capacity of seed and fertilizer, depending on the farmer’s preference.
The unit comes with two disc opener options: either a single opener with 7.5″ row spacing, or a double opener that offers 6″-paired rows on 30″ centres.
Kuster notes farmers transitioning from a traditional box drill might feel more comfortable with a double-disc opener, while others looking for a high-speed planting option will appreciate the single-disc system with row-spacing options.
He adds this drill is about efficiency and customization. In the field, farmers could seed at 10 mph or more with the single-disc set up, or seven mph-plus with the double-disc option. “Each section has two metered rollers, and can achieve sectional control to eliminate double planting,” Kuster says.
“Farmers want flexibility in the field,” says Kuster. “Farmers can choose row widths, opener configurations and more — all while knowing their seed is getting placed evenly and at the right depth.”
