Trouw Nutrition Canada completes purchase of Yantzi Feed & Seed Ltd

Livestock feed company, Trouw Nutrition Canada (Shur-Gain) will complete its purchase of Yantzi Feed & Seed Ltd. early next mont.

The acquisition includes Yantzi’s feed manufacturing, grain storage, crop input facility and retail store at Tavistock, Ont., the grain elevator on Line 29 North East of Tavistock and the retail store and crop input business at Brunner, Ont.

Currently, Shur-Gain is evaluating its options for the crop input and seed aspects of the business and will be making a choice on which direction it will take in the near future.

“Yantzi Feed & Seed Ltd. has been a very loyal Shur-Gain dealer since our establishment in 1958,” says Steve Yantzi, president of Yantzi Feed & Seed Ltd. “Our family has discussed several options for the business and we feel that the best fit for us and our customers is to become a part of Shur-Gain.”

The mill at Tavistock will continue to operate as usual with the same staff and offering the same products as both companies are committed to making it a smooth transition.

“Shur-Gain is proud to have been represented by the Yantzi family in the Tavistock area for over 60 years and we are very excited that Steve, Gail and Ryan have chosen us to carry on their business,” says Kevin Weppler, general manager of Shur-Gain Ontario. “They have built a tremendous customer base and a strong group of employees that support the business. We are excited to continue to grow this business, working closely with our customers.”
