An international group of independent journalists has named Fendt’s new Vario as Tractor of the Year 2020, for its level of connectivity, combined with several mechanical attributes.
“Here we combine connectivity, smart farming, as well, with complete efficiency,” says Fendt’s Edward Snieder.
The Vario 942 features a 6-cylinder, 9-litre MAN engine, optimized to deliver high power at a low rpm. It can reach 40km/h at just 950 rpm; 50km/h at 1200 rpm; and 60km/h at 1450 rpm. Its full 415 hp is delivered in the range of 1500 to 1700 rpm.
The engine is also more fuel-efficient thanks to high compression, using less diesel than its predecessor, and emitting fewer CO2 emissions.

In terms of connectivity, the model permits full remote control of several functions, and analysis and management of the machine through Fendt Connect. Smart Connect allows the driver to connect an iPad in the cab, via internal wifi, and view tractor position, the worked area, speed, fuel consumption and engine load.
Other features for this tractor include its VarioDrive Transmission, which splits the torque to the two axles to optimize traction; reversible fan; a Life Cab for comport; electric retractable mirror; a pull-out tool box with three different equipment options; and different versions of the cab depending on customer needs.
