A new hitch with telescoping draft links makes the John Deere 4M heavy-duty compact utility tractor one of the most versatile machines in its class, the company says.
Deere rolled out the new tractor, available in 52 and 66 horsepower models, at the National Farm Machinery Show (NFMS) at Louisville, Kentucky. John Deere product marketing manager DeMark Cole says what defines the tractor is a new category I/II hitch that allows it to use a broad range of implements with various hitch specifications.
Thanks to the telescoping draft links, implement hook up is a simple task, notes Cole. Operators will be able to spend more time completing the task at hand versus struggling to attach their implements. Factory-installed hydraulics also give operators the ability to connect and use multiple hydraulic-controlled implements simultaneously.
The 4M also adds John Deere’s three-range eHydro transmission with Twin Touch pedals, allowing for easy direction changes and increased productivity while decreasing operator fatigue. The eHydro transmission also includes other features such as eThrottle, LoadMatch, MotionMatch and SpeedMatch systems along with automotive style cruise control.
In this video, Cole explains how the tractor’s unique lights package is designed to improve visibility in low-light environments. He also notes that the 4M’s compact 73-inch wheel base allows for a much tighter turning radius while operating in small spaces.
