For nearly a decade, the largest ag tractor in the world has sat dormant in a specially built shed at Heartland Museum at Clarion, Iowa.
The beloved Big Bud 16V-747 four-wheel drive tractor now lives on, thanks to help from Titan International, manufacturer of Titan Tires, Titan Wheels, and Goodyear Farm Tires.
Big Bud was built at Havre, Montana, and after stints in California and Florida deep-ripping, it made its way back to Montana and is now owned by brothers Robert and Randy Williams. After the original tires, custom made by United Tire Company of Canada, deteriorated, the tractor was housed at the museum since the tires were no longer manufactured, until Titan International was able to help out.
The Williams brothers plan on bringing Big Bud back to their farm this fall for harvest.
The 20-foot-wide, 28-foot-long, 1100-horsepower tractor is now outfitted with eight Goodyear Optitract LSW 1400 tires. Changing the tires meant a lot of planning, and hard work including undoing about 40 bolts per tire.
