WCWGA 50th anniversary convention cancelled

by

The Western Canadian Wheat Growers Association (WCWGA) has made the decision to cancel its 50th anniversary convention.

The convention was scheduled for November 24 and 25, 2020, in Regina, Sask.

President Gunter Jochum says going forward with the convention wouldn’t be following health and safety regulations that are in place across the provinces.

“We determined that it is in everyone’s best interest to cancel this year’s convention,” Jochum explains, in an email announcement on Wednesday. “This is very unfortunate, as we are celebrating 50 years of advocating for Western Canada’s wheat farmers.”

As an alternative to the convention, a series of webinars will be offered for members and guests. All convention registrants will be receiving an email that outlines the refund process for the convention and online commemorative book purchases.

“We are all becoming used to online webinars, and while we all miss the social interaction with our colleagues, the Wheat Growers are pleased to present speakers on the issues that impact us all,” says Jochum.
