Bosch, BASF's xarvio launch new digital farming joint venture

Building on their existing partnership, Bosch and xarvio Digital Farming Solutions, owned by BASF, have started a joint venture to globally market and sell digital farming solutions from a single source.

The joint venture agreement will result in the founding of a new company based at Cologne, Germany, beginning next year.

The partnership will marry BASF Digital Farming’s xarvio platform — an automated, real-time, field specific, agronomic decision making engine — with Bosch hardware, software, and digital services.

“Thanks to connecting agricultural machinery using high-tech sensors, intelligent software and digital products, we can make tomorrow’s agriculture more efficient and at the same time more environmentally friendly,” says Andrew Allen, responsible for Commercial Vehicles and Off-Road Business at Robert Bosch GmbH.

The first product to launch will be a version of the Intelligent Planting Solution system for seeding and fertilizer prescriptions. The second will be the Smart Spraying solution, which combines Bosch’s camera sensor technology and software with xarvio’s crop optimization platform.

The Smart Spraying solution is planned for a limited launch in 2021.
