Publishing of Alberta's Crop Protection Guide becomes responsibility of four commodity groups

by

The Alberta Crop Protection Guide — or as it’s more commonly known throughout the province, “The Blue Book” — will now be produced by Alberta Wheat Commission, Alberta Barley, Alberta Canola, and Alberta Pulse Growers, says Erin Tateson, communications manager for Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions in the Grain Exchange newsletter.

The four major crop commissions will work together to ensure the Blue Book continues as Alberta farmers and agronomists’ first resource for crop protection information, the groups say.

“With a production model and process already in place, we are diligently working to develop the 2021 Blue Book,” says Tom Steve, general manager of Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions. “We wanted to ensure this longstanding publication continues to deliver value to Alberta farmers and agronomists.”

The commissions have also hired a consultant to lead additions and updates to the Blue Book for its 2021 edition. Alberta What and Barley Commissions’ staff from GrainsWest magazine will also contribute to reviewing, designing, and publishing.
