Claire Coombs’ first agronomy love might be soil, but teaching and extension work are likely a close second.
Coombs is currently teaching at Algonquin College at Perth, Ont., in the Business Agriculture diploma program. Since March, it’s been an adventure in adaptability, as programs shifted from in-person to online nearly overnight. That change alone would be a lot — but it also happened in the very first year of the program.
In this episode of Agronomy Geeks, Coombs shares her love of soil and some neat research from her master’s project concerning nitrogen credits and cover crops, plus highlights her time in extension at Penn State, and also offers up what’s been most rewarding about teaching the next generation of agriculture movers and shakers.
