Farm Management Canada, (FMC) along with Farm Credit Canada (FCC), MNP, and the Canadian government, are announcing the debut of farmtransitionguide.ca.
The brand-new bilingual web portal connects farm owners and hopeful farm owners to the tools, experts, and resources they need to develop and implement all stages of their farm transition plans.
The website will be launched on Farm Transition Appreciation Day — January 12 — the first event of its kind that invites farmers to celebrate farm transition planning and take action.
Heather Watson, executive director of FMC says that over the next decade, 75 per cent of farms will change hands, yet only 8 per cent of farmers have a written transition plan.
“By pledging to take steps towards transition planning, farmers are not only building upon their own legacy, but ensuring the continuity of Canada’s agricultural excellence through effective management planning,” says Watson.
