RealTalk agriculture panel on GM technology, the carbon tax, and consumer misconceptions

by

On Thursday, Ryan Jespersen featured an hour dedicated to agricultural issues. The panel consisted of Alberta based beef and dairy farmer Jeff Nonay, Brittany Hennig, a MSc Student at the University of Alberta & Research Administration at Alberta Canola, and me. With a primarily urban audience, addressing agricultural issues on a show like this is a great way to start conversations around agriculture.

On the panel we discussed GM technology, how the carbon tax is not the answer for farmers, and how consumers would be surprised by the environmental practices of farmers being used today.

After the show I had several people reach out with questions about agriculture and the impacts of the carbon tax on agriculture. This is encouraging, but there are many conversations to have as we continue to talk about the great opportunity that agriculture is.

I greatly appreciate the people like Ryan Jespersen give agriculture the floor to have direct engagement with his urban audience.
