The group that has proposed the voluntary code of practice for grain farms across Canada has decided to adjust its timeline and hold another round of consultations in the fall of 2021.
Consultations on the Responsible Grain draft code formally began in November 2020.
Farmers participating in online or telephone consultation sessions over the past week have been told a second round of meetings where farmers can provide feedback will be held in the fall of 2021, following the release of an updated version of the code.
The Responsible Grain committee, established through the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Crops, had previously planned to complete consultations by the end of March 2021, and then publish the first version of the code in April, with implementation taking place in May through December of 2021.
