December is often a time for reflection of the past year; then January rolls around, and our focus shifts to the upcoming 12 months. For us farmers, it means planning for the growing season. However, we belong to an industry that has so many moving parts and, after all, we all have different goals for our operations.
What is your focal point for the new year? Do you have specific goals? If you haven’t thought about the logistics of it all — maybe it’s time to do so. It could be anything from looking at new hybrids, to paying attention to new crop prices coming out in the upcoming weeks. It could also mean education or personal growth. Maybe it’s time to finally tackle that succession plan you’ve been meaning to develop.
