Heavy rainfall event across Ontario floods fields and roadways

Two days of heavy rain in areas of southern Ontario drenched fields of standing crop, closed roads, and caused streams and rivers to breach banks.

Near London, over 100 mm fell in a short time, causing significant flooding.

Farmers across the region posted rain gauge shots, photos of flooded fields, and images of the storm’s destruction on social media.

Roadways were re-opened by Friday. The full impact of the heavy rain on standing beans and corn won’t be known for several weeks and depending on the weather going forward.
