Sask Wheat welcomes Goldade as executive director

The board of directors of Sask Wheat is today announcing Blair Goldade as the successful applicant to lead Sask Wheat as its new executive director.

Goldade will replace Harvey Brooks, who is retiring from the position this fall after seven years at the helm of the producer group.

“Blair comes to the role with extensive experience in Sask Wheat operations and research, having recently been Sask Wheat’s research program manager and science coordinator of the Canadian National Wheat Cluster for the Canadian Wheat Research Coalition,” says Brett Halstead, chair of Sask Wheat. “He has strong roots in Saskatchewan’s agriculture community and is well known and respected by the research community and government officials across Canada. He will represent the interests of Saskatchewan wheat farmers well.”

Prior to joining Sask Wheat, Goldade served as the executive director for the Agriculture Council of Saskatchewan from June 2012 to October 2014, overseeing federal funding for Saskatchewan agricultural projects through programs such as the Canadian Agricultural Adaptation Program.

“We are pleased to welcome Blair to his new role with Sask Wheat,” says vice-chair Jake Leguee. “We feel Blair’s background in research, his education, and his continued involvement at his family’s farm, makes him uniquely suited to serve as Sask Wheat’s Executive Director.”

“I would like to thank the Board of Directors for this exciting opportunity,” says Goldade. “I have a lot of work ahead of me, but thankfully I have an engaged group of Directors supporting me and a tremendous team in the office. I will continue the direction the Board has laid out for the organization. We are known as leaders within agriculture and for being responsible stewards of producer dollars. I will work to ensure that Sask Wheat continues to meet the evolving needs of Saskatchewan wheat producers.”

Goldade will begin his new role on October 15.
