Honey Bee's updated header is suited to diverse crop rotations

Many farmers will be familiar with Honey Bee Manufacturing’s Airflex header, out since 2014, but the company has made some updates to the header model.

Kara Oosterhuis recently caught up with Matt Krupski, sales manager at Honey Bee Manufacturing, at Agri-Trade in Red Deer, Alta. to talk about the updates.

Krupski says that the latest improvements on this header include the cam rail and the cutterbar design for low profiles — which is really important for special crops like soybeans, lentils, or peas.

The operating system has also been improved to help with smoother calibration between combine and header.

In addition, on the backside of the header is an airbag gauge wheel system which works well in flex mode, but particularly well in rigid mode, says Krupski, especially for farmers with hilly ground that prefer rigid mode.

Instead of a jack where it was a manual adjust, now the gauge wheel system fully integrates with the air system itself and allows for better positivity as far as true gauge wheel performance with rigid mode.

“It’s easier for the grower to find that sweet spot so that the header will follow the header height control on a more assisted manner,” says Krupski.

Every header has its place, says Krupski, but the advantage of the AF 250 with updates is that it’s suited to diverse crops in a grower’s rotation.
