Massey Ferguson has two new round balers on offer, the 1745 D and the RB 4160 P Protec.
RealAgriculture’s Kara Oosterhuis caught up with Matt LeCroy, marketing manager of hay and forage at AGCO, back in August at Farm Progress Show, to chat about the new round baler and baler-wrapper combo units.
The 1745D is an economy dry hay round baler, that’s easy to do maintenance on because it only has five drive-chains, says LeCroy.
“We’ve made it even more simple over the prior version by taking two tension springs out, so now for tensioning it just has two hydraulic cylinders, says LeCroy in the video below. (Story continues below player)
Switching into a silage operation setup, LeCroy says the Protec, four foot by five foot baler-wrapper combination unit, has 17 knives and can be sized up perfectly.
“It also has a hydraulic floor and a floating floor to keep you from getting plugged,” says LeCroy, adding that if you do get plugged, the unit can be unplugged from the cab.
The Protec also has a feature where it can make a bale and move it to the plastic wrap cradle while it’s still making a bale inside the chamber.
LeCroy says the Protec is great for “hay in a day” operations, where there isn’t time for drydown, while the 1745 D is best for smaller operations.
Both units are available now, from local Massey Ferguson dealerships.
