You may have noticed a change on RealAgriculture this past week, as we’ve introduced a registration portal for some of our content.
First things first: this is a registration portal, not a paywall.
As has been the case since this company began, there is no subscription fee to access the long list of schools, news articles, opinion and insight pieces, or podcasts, including RealAg Radio.
Our commitment to you is that there won’t be a subscription to access RealAgriculture content. That won’t change. The site will remain free.
What has changed over time is the online media landscape. Third-party sites, such as Facebook, have significantly evolved from peer-to-peer sharing to highly sophisticated, curated information streams. Too often, independent companies, like ours, spend more time trying to figure out the latest bent of an algorithm than creating content. Creating a registration portal is one way we can better tailor our content for our readers and listeners, and how we can ensure that those who want to hear from us, actually see and access our work.
By registering with us, you can be assured of a few things. First, your information is private and secure. Our technical team has worked hard to keep this site, and its users, safe from cyber threats (and, believe us, they exist). Secondly, beyond having full access to all the RealAg content, you’ll also get some short-term and long-term benefits. As a thank you for registering, we’ll send you a RealAg koozie and a few stickers. As we fully introduce this system, you’ll also receive member-only invites to events and webinars, tailored content, and access to exclusive merchandise and products.
This is an evolution, and change is hard. We totally understand that. We know that for a portion of our readers, registering to read may be a deterrent, and maybe even an irritant. As a team, we have discussed the pros and cons at length and tried our best to deliver value for registering, above and beyond our fantastic content.
We appreciate each of you, and wouldn’t be here without you.
