Bob Lowe, current president of the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association and long-standing beef industry member, will serve as vice president of the Global Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (GRSB) for 2022.
The GRSB’s executive committee is comprised of some of the global beef supply chain’s largest stakeholders, including representatives from McDonald’s, Tyson Foods, Zoetis, Rabobank, and, the Canadian Cattlemen’s Association.
Ian McConnel, of Tyson Foods, will serve as president. The balance of the committee includes Justin Sherrard, of Rabobank, as secretary-treasurer, Jeannette Ferran Astorga, Zoetis, and Lucas McKelvie, McDonalds Corporation, as members at large, and immediate past-president: Bob McCan, McFaddin Enterprises.
The GRSB, established in 2012, has been working to advance sustainable beef through leadership, science, and multi-stakeholder engagement. It announced its global sustainability goals in June 2021, including a goal of reducing beef’s impact on net global warming by 30 per cent by the year 2030, ensuring the beef value chain is a net positive contributor to nature by the same year.
