Chris Lane will begin a new position as president and CEO of Economic Development Regina, as of April 25, 2022.
Lane has spent the last six years as CEO of Canadian Western Agribition. He joined Agribition after spending several years as senior news producer for CBC in Saskatchewan, Alberta and the Maritimes.
While the last few years of hosting events has been a huge challenge in the face of a global pandemic, Lane’s leadership kept Agribition top of mind for many, including launching the Top 50 in Canadian Agriculture to bolster interest and attendance in the 2021 event.
Lane says he believes in the potential of Regina’s future and is looking forward to helping “elevate the city.”
“There’s so much momentum building around Regina and the opportunities here,” Lane says. “We’re talking about transformational economic growth. It’s an exciting time and space, and I’m energized for EDR to play an increasing leadership role in making it a reality.”
Regina is known for hosting large agricultural events, such as Agribition and Canada’s Farm Show. In the last five years, several grain companies have announced significant investments for the surrounding areas of the city, including canola crush facilities and renewable diesel refineries.
