New reality show looks to play matchmaker for Canadian farmers

Romantic dates in Hawaii with your own personal chef and sunset massages sounds nice and all, but let’s be real — sorting livestock and fixing fence is a lot more telling of a person and, potentially, the compatibility of a couple.

CTV has announced a new reality show, Farming For Love, a series that will show five Canadian farmers on their quest for love, and we can’t wait to see what the show has in store to put the potential mates to the test.

Considering we, RealAgriculture, arguably have the best and broadest audience comprised of farmers from all walks of life and agriculture professionals, who better to weigh in on the show and what classic farming scenarios would serve as great date ideas?

We posted the question over on Twitter and received not only some practical and comical date ideas, but also real farming couples’ first-hand accounts of love on the farm… some of which are also quite comical — and true.

Among the suggestions and tales of dating on the farm, a few also graciously shared some cute couple pictures from.. where else, but the combine.

We may have to wait a while to see what transpires from the show, as CTV just announced its casting call for the reality series. Eligible farmers can apply at ctv.ca with the caveat being that they are looking to cast farmers and ranchers based out of British Columbia.

Until the show goes live, we’d love to keep hearing your farming date ideas, or just seeing all the great farming couples across the nation that make the long days and inevitable frustrations a little more bearable.
